Our 10-week SAT Math Crash Course is meticulously designed to equip students with the tools, strategies, and practice needed to excel in the Math section of the SAT. Whether you're aiming for a perfect score or simply improving your understanding, this course will help you gain the confidence and skills necessary to tackle all types of math questions, from algebra to trigonometry.


1. What is the SAT?


The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized college admissions exam administered by the College Board. It is widely used by U.S. colleges and universities to assess a student's readiness for college. The SAT is designed to measure core academic skills and critical thinking. It consists of two primary sections:


  • Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW): This section assesses reading comprehension, vocabulary in context, grammar, and analytical skills.

  • Math: This section covers a wide range of topics, including Algebra, Problem Solving & Data Analysis, Geometry, and Trigonometry. The math section has two parts: one that allows the use of a calculator and one that does not.


The SAT is scored out of 1600, with each section (ERW and Math) scoring between 200–800 points. It plays a crucial role in college admissions, alongside other factors like GPA, extracurricular activities, and essays. SAT scores also serve as an important tool for merit-based scholarships, college placement, and boosting your academic profile. A high score can make your application stand out, especially for highly competitive colleges.

Scoring above 700 is generally competitive, while a score of 750+ positions students strongly in STEM-focused programs.

In our SAT Math course, students will cover key topics and concepts that are essential for success on the SAT Math section:

  • Problem Solving & Data Analysis: Gain skills in interpreting graphs, tables, and charts. Practice working with percentages, ratios, rates, and interpreting data to solve real-world problems.

  • Advanced Math: Master topics in advanced math, such as systems of equations, probability, and functions. You'll also learn how to approach more challenging math problems with confidence.

  • Geometry & Trigonometry: Understand key geometric concepts, such as the properties of shapes, angles, areas, and volumes. In addition, get comfortable with trigonometry concepts like sine, cosine, and tangent.

  • Time Management & Strategies: Learn essential time management techniques and test-taking strategies, such as recognizing question patterns and eliminating incorrect choices quickly.


6. What's Included in the Course:


  • 2 Full Diagnostic Tests: To track your progress, you'll take two full-length practice tests at the beginning and end of the course. These tests will help identify areas for improvement and guide your personalized study plan.

  • One Practice SAT Simulation: Students can participate in a full-length, proctored SAT held in-person at Pluit Academy on January 11, 2025. This test will give you a realistic test-day experience to build confidence and fine-tune your strategies.

  • Interactive Lessons: Engage in interactive lessons designed to reinforce your understanding of each math topic, with immediate feedback from our expert instructors.

  • Study Resources: Receive curated study materials, practice questions, and comprehensive review sheets to support your learning.
